Jaguar Vs Subaru

About 3:24 pm on May 15, motorist Ted Selken, 69, of 10 Dinglebrook Lane, who was driving a 2005 Jaguar XKR convertible northward on Queen Street, pulled the auto over onto the road shoulder near 11 Queen Street and stopped, police report.

Northbound motorist Christine Jojo, 41, of 5 Somerset Lane, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Forester station wagon, then pulled over and stopped behind the Jaguar, police said.

The Jaguar then backed up, striking the front end of the Subaru, according to police. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Selken for unsafe backing.

South Main Impact

Motorist Gaetano Mascolo, 55, of 32 Black Bridge Road, who was driving a 2005 Nissan Murano SUV southward near 228 South Main Street, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn into a commercial driveway about 7:11 pm May 20, when the Nissan was struck from behind by southbound motorist Emma Canfield, 18, of 5 Shepaug Road, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Pole said they gave Canfield a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Flagpole Crash

A station wagon and coupe collided in an accident at the hazardous Main Street flagpole intersection about 10:51 am May 16.

Motorist Mark Ronnow, 49, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen station wagon, was traveling southward on Main Street and was approaching the flagpole, police said.

Motorist Laurie Wrabel, 64, of Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Mercedes-Benz coupe, was westbound on Church Hill Road and was approaching the intersection, police said.

Some southbound motorists on Main Street had stopped near the flagpole and were waiting in a line to make left turns onto Church Hill Road, according to police.

As the Volkswagen passed the waiting vehicles on the right, the Mercedes attempted to drive through a gap in that line of traffic to reach West Street, police said.

The Volkswagen and the Mercedes collided. There were no injuries. Police said they gave Ronnow an infraction ticket for illegal passing.

Mt Pleasant Road

At about 2:51 pm May 19, motorist Susan Fernandes, 71, of 132 Hattertown Road, who was driving a 2006 Honda Accord sedan, was exiting a private driveway near 175 Mt Pleasant Road and attempting to make a left turn onto that road, as motorist Marianne Kolf, 79, of Ridgefield was driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty SUV westward on Mt Pleasant Road, police said.

The Honda and the Jeep collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Fernandes for failure to grant the right of way.

Failure To Respond

After learning that police held a warrant, Patricia Hayes, 50, of 9 Cherry Heights Terrace turned herself over to police on the morning of May 24 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction, police said.

That charge stems from an October 1, 2004, incident in which Hayes was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, according to police.

After processing, police released Hayes on $100 bail for a June 11 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Burglary/Larceny

Police said that at about 11 pm on May 21, they observed Kristin Pfeiffer, 41, of 27 Hemlock Trail removing items from an unoccupied residence on Church Hill Road that is for sale.

Police said their investigation showed that Pfeiffer did not have permission to enter the vacant residence and also had stolen household items from the premises.

Police arrested Pfeiffer on charges of third-degree burglary, which is a felony, and sixth-degree larceny. The larceny charge involves the theft of items worth less than $250.

After she posted $300 bail, police released Pfeiffer for a June 4 court appearance.

 

Two Violations

Police report that they stopped motorist Santhosh Abraham, 38, of Monroe at the Exit 11 off-ramp of Interstate 84 about 6:30 pm May 22, because he was not wearing a seatbelt.

After investigating, police charged Abraham with failure to wear a seatbelt and with driving while under suspension. Abraham was released on $100 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 11, police report.

License Suspension

Police report that they stopped motorist Dana Broadhurst, 28, of Ansonia near 228 South Main Street about 2:40 am May 24 to investigate.

Police said they charged Broadhurst with driving with a suspended license. Broadhurst was released from custody on a written promise to appear June 4 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge, according to police.

Fairfield Hills

Police filed charges against three youths after they were found to be trespassing on the Fairfield Hills campus after hours, at about 9 pm May 25.

Police charged each of the three people with simple trespassing. Two “youthful offenders” received infractions for those violations. Also, one “juvenile” received a juvenile summons for that offense, police said.

Police released the juvenile into the custody of a relative for a June 4 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Juveniles are people under age 16. Youthful offenders are either age 16 or age 17. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Stolen Goods

On the morning of May 21, police received a report that someone had had broken the rear window of a pickup truck parked in a commercial parking lot at 27 Glen Road and stole a Sony-brand video camcorder and some camcorder accessories. The items stolen have a value of more than $1,000, according to police.

Police said the incident occurred sometime between 6:30 and 7:15 am that morning. Police Officer John McCluskey in investigating the case of theft and vandalism and asks anyone with information on the matter to contact him at the police station at 426-5841.

 

DUI Incident

About 8:36 am May 23, police received a report of an erratic driver traveling northward on South Main street, near the Monroe town line, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they stopped swerving motorist Ronald Langdon, 72, of Stratford near Waterfall Plaza at 259 South Main Street to investigate the complaint.

Police said they charged Langdon with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, driving with a suspended license, and with driving without proper tail lamps.

After processing, police released Langdon on $200 bail for a June 5 court appearance.

Chevy Vs Ford

About 12:50 pm May 21, motorist Thomas Turner, 70, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Ford pickup truck northward near 75 South Main Street, stopped because a vehicle ahead of him was making a left turn, police said.

While the Ford was stopped, it was hit from behind by northbound motorist Andrew Wanat, 23, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer SUV that attempted to pass the Ford on the right, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Wanat a written warning for passing on the right.

 

Sugar Street

Police report that at about 3:15 pm May 21, motorist Catherine Ochs, 86, of 21 Parmalee Hill Road, who was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy sedan, was exiting the parking lot at Ferris Acres Creamery at 144 Sugar Street and turning left to enter that street, as Angelo Russo, 40, of Southbury was driving a 2000 Ford F-350 pickup truck that was hauling farm equipment eastward on Sugar Street.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Ochs an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

 

BMW Vs Honda

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the hazardous intersection of West Street and Castle Hill Road about 9:05 am May 22.

Motorist Jacqueline Himmelfarb, 52, of 11 Kent Road was driving a 2006 BMW 325-XI sedan eastward on Castle Hill Road, police said. Motorist Elise Budnick-Silkowski, 46, of 113 Head O’ Meadow Road was driving a 2008 Honda Civic sedan eastward on West Street, according to police.

The Honda then attempted to make a left turn from West Street onto Castle Hill Road, police said. The two vehicles collided.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Himmelfarb a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign. Police said they also verbally warned Himmelfarb for illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving.

Off The Road

About 2:51 am May 17, motorist Blakeley Cohen, 27, of Bridgewater was driving a 2007 Honda Civic coupe northward near 228 South Main Street, when she attempted to negotiate a curve in the road, but lost control of the auto, and went off the right road shoulder with the auto rolling over onto its roof, police said.

Ambulance volunteers responded to the scene to check Cohen, but she refused transport to the hospital, police said. Police said they issued Cohen a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Chrysler Vs Deer

Motorist Robert Griffin, 31, of 11 Tunnel Road was driving a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica westward on Berkshire Road, near Chestnut Hill Road, about 12:05 am May 17, when a deer ran out onto the street and collided with the vehicle, police said. Griffin was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Sedan Vs SUV

Motorist Wendy Tita, 46, of 23 Brookwood Drive was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban SUV near 55 Sugar Street about 2 pm May 24, when she stopped for traffic conditions, police report.

Motorist Ryan Koch, 17, of 1 Sweet Meadow Road, who was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan behind the Chevrolet, then struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.

There were no injuries. Koch received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

 

South Main Street

Motorist Diane Tyrrell, 53, of 15 Equestrian Ridge Road, who was driving a 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL SUV southward near 123 South Main Street about 2:55 pm May 22, stopped for traffic conditions and was hit from behind by southbound motorist Laura King, 42, of 31 Meadowbrook Road, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet K-1500 pickup truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued King a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Glover Avenue

Motorist Margaret Smith, 52, of 2 White Oak Farm Road, who was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck westward on Glover Avenue about 11:25 am May 22, stopped for a traffic signal there, police said.

In then attempting to change lanes on westbound Glover Avenue, the Ford backed up, inadvertently backing into motorist Erika Moran, 36, of 15 Purdy Station Road, who was driving a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica that was positioned directly behind the Ford, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Smith a written warning for unsafe backing.

Youthful Offender

Police report that at about 8 pm on May 24, they stopped a motorist near the intersection of Wasserman Way and Oakview Road to investigate.

Police said they charged the driver with a headlamp violation, driving while under suspension, and failure to carry an automotive insurance card.

Police released the 17-year-old driver from Danbury on $400 bail for a June 12 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 charged with such offenses.

I-84 DUI

State police report that at about 6:23 am May 17, they stopped motorist John Elliott, 20, of Rhode Island for failing to drive in the proper lane near Exit 11 on eastbound Interstate 84.

After investigating, state police charged Elliott with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. Elliott was released on $500 bail for a June 1 court appearance.

Town Car

About 10 am May 26, motorist Byron Norvell, 61, of 2 Twist Hill Lane was driving a 2001 Nissan Altima sedan southward near 76 South Main Street when he slowed for traffic conditions, police said.

Southbound motorist Elizabeth Simek, 20, of 4 Pond Brook Road, who was driving a 1993 Lincoln Town Car sedan, then struck the Nissan from behind, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Simek a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Four MV Charges

Police report that while on patrol about 5:36 pm on May 27, they spotted a disabled vehicle with its hazard lights flashing parked on the road near 80 Church Hill Road, so they stopped to investigate.

That investigation resulted in police charging motorist Michael Pileggi, 28, of 138 Underhill Road with misuse of marker plates, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and driving without automotive insurance.

After processing, police released Pileggi on a written promise to appear in court on June 11.
