John R. Anderson, 74, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Naugatuck, died November 22 at home after a long illness. His loving wife of 15 years and caregiver, Anna (DiCarlo) Anderson, was at his bedside.
Jack was born in Waterbury on March 31, 1930, the youngest son of the late Gunard and Melanie (Lingenheld) Anderson. He attended local schools and served in the US Army, 102nd Infantry.
Mr Anderson retired from GTE after 42 years of service. His interests included boating, camping, and fishing.
Besides his wife, Jack leaves behind four children, Sharon Kochan, Beverly Thibodeau, Sally Maleknia, and William Anderson; two step-children, Annette Tibolla and John Kaptenia; and a sister, Nancy Dayton.
Jack was blessed with 14 grandchildren, Charles, Kevin, Laura, Jennifer, Christopher, Tyler, Lexie, Amber, P.J., Daniel, James, Jacqueline, Payce, and Ean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 27, at noon in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, November 26, from noon to 3 pm and 5 to 8 pm.
