Katherine Zimmermann

and Mark Anderson

Carol and Frank Zimmerman of Sandy Hook announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Hunt Zimmerman, to Mark Lawrence Anderson, son of Karen and Marshall Anderson of Corvallis, Ore.

Kate is a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School, a 2000 graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass., with a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering, and a 2003 graduate of University of New Mexico with an MBA in Management of Technology.

Mark is a 1995 graduate of Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis, Ore., and a 1999 graduate of Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, Calif., with a  bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.

He is a nationally ranked rock climber, and recently climbed a 5.14 route called Scarface at Smith Rock, Ore. Beginning on March 16, Mark spent four days climbing from the ground to the end without hanging on any equipment or falling.

Kate and Mark work at the US Space and Missile Systems Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, N.M., where they test and launch satellites and missile systems for the US missile defense system.

A December 1 wedding is being planned to take place at Zion National Park in Utah, which will be followed by a December 22 reception and blessing of the wedding in Sandy Hook.
