There is a clear choice for us in the upcoming election for the 112th state representative seat, and that is Michele Mount. As director of legislative affairs, she helped local communities represent their interests in Hartford.
As a representative for Monroe and Sandy Hook, she will bring her experience as well as her sound judgment to Hartford. For example, Mountâs opponent, DebraLee Hovey, voted No on subprime mortgage relief, a bill designed to provide emergency help to Connecticut families and require stricter oversight of mortgage lenders. Michele Mount will support legislation that helps keep residents in their homes and protect them from predatory lenders.
Mountâs opponent voted No to tougher penalties for operating boating and recreational vehicles while intoxicated and No to more stringent teenage driving laws. Michele Mount, on the other hand, supports tough laws to make our highways, waterways, and recreational areas safer from intoxicated drivers of any type of vehicle, be it land or water bound. As a mother of a teenager, she felt strongly that the new teenage driving law would keep young people safer by requiring more time behind the wheel to gain valuable driving experience before they were allowed to drive with a friend.
If the law was all that Michele Mount was about, it would be enough to qualify her for the 112th seat. But this election is more than a list of pros and cons â it is about the quality of life and values that make us members of one community working for the good of all. And, that is why I hope you will join us in voting for Michele Mount on Tuesday, November 4.
