Children’s Day At IAIS

WASHINGTON — The Institute for American Indian Studies will honor Columbus Day on Monday, October 13, with a child-friendly day where guests will be making traditional crafts such as dreamcatchers and cornhusk dolls, playing Native American games, storytelling, and more.

All of the museum’s exhibits, including the outdoor replicated Algonkian Village, furnished Longhouse Room, nature trails and the new “try-on” clothing section just for kids, will all be open.

The fun begins at 11 am and runs until 3:30 pm. Museum admission is $4 per adult, and $2 for ages 6-16. Some crafts will have an extra but minimal charge.

The museum, at 38 Curtis Road, can be contacted by calling 860-868-0518.
