John Swindon

John “Jack” Swindon, 78, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Gloria Baransky, died December 6, in the Carolton Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, he was a lifelong Fairfield resident.

Mr Swindon, a World War II Navy veteran, retired at the rank of sergeant from the Fairfield Police Department after 30 years of service. He was a member of the George A. Smith Legion Post 74, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fairfield PBA.

In addition to his wife Gloria, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy A. McClosky of Newtown and Patricia A. Richard of Stratford; a son, Thomas J. Swindon of Trumbull; grandchildren Courtney, Brittney, and Spencer Swindon, Ronald Richard Jr, Dawn Godin, Catherine Corris and Michael, Christopher, and Dillon Baransky; six great-grandchildren and three nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes, one sister, and two brothers.

The funeral was held December 10 from the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road, and in St Anthony of Padua Church in Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
