How To Care For Your Antiques
WOODBURY â The Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden will continue its fall antiques series âEvenings with the Expertsâ on October 19 with a presentation by Marybeth Keene, vice president of Wayne Pratt & Company.
Ms Keene will discuss the proper care and handling of antiques and heirlooms to ensure their preservation. Ms Keene will illustrate the concepts of antique care using the superb examples included in the Wayne Pratt Gallery. The program will take place at Wayne Pratt & Company, 346 Main Street North (Route 6).
The lecture will begin at 5:30 pm. Following the lecture, light refreshments will be served. The cost for the evening is $25; call 263-2855 to reserve space.
Marybeth Keene has been active in the field of American antiques for almost 30 years and is a noted expert on antique textiles as well as 18th and 19th Century furniture and folk art. As vice president of Wayne Pratt & Company she consults with collectors on forming personalized collections and interiors.
Ms Keene is a frequent lecturer and actively involved in a variety of organizations in her field. She has also appeared on the last four seasons of Antiques Roadshow as an appraiser of American furniture and decorative arts.
The fall âEvenings with the Expertsâ series will continue on November 9 when David Schorsh, the owner of David A. Schorsh American Antiques, presents a slide lecture on âAmerican Folk Art.â
