Graffiti Bridge

Late on the night of July 11, police responded to Sandy Hook Center on a report that there were youths in the area handling cans of spray paint.

Police said they arrested a 17-year-old boy on a charge of third-degree criminal mischief after he admitted to them that he had sprayed graffiti on the Church Hill Road Bridge that crosses above Pootatuck River.

After arrest processing, police released the youth from custody on a written promise to appear July 20 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. State law shields the identities on people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Wet Road

About 12:15 am July 12, motorist Jeremy Bliven, 44, of 22 Equestrian Ridge Road was driving a 2001 Ford Focus southward near 41 Key Rock Road, when he rounded a curve and spotted multiple deer on the road, police said.

Bliven braked, but the Ford skidded on the rain-slicked road and struck a tree, police said. Bliven was not injured. Police verbally warned him for traveling at a speed too fast for conditions.

Narrow Bridge

Police reported a two-vehicle accident on a narrow bridge on Meadow Brook Road.

Motorist Lewis Sessa, 59, of 24 Great Ring Road was driving a 2001 GMC 1500 pickup truck westward on Meadow Brook Road, as motorist Erika Loker, 26, of Redding was driving a 1999 Jeep Wrangler eastward there, police said.

Both vehicles simultaneously attempted to cross the bridge, which is only wide enough for one vehicle to pass, police said. The two vehicles’ left-side exterior mirrors then collided.

There were no injuries. It could not be determined which driver had the right-of-way and the case remains under investigation, police said.
