A Time Of Healing And Coming Together
A Time Of Healing
And Coming Together
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to thank all my sincere, hardworking supporters, especially the young people who will be the next generation of leaders. I am so proud of the campaign we ran on the issues, I hope this will inspire all of us to keep informed and be involved. This is also a time of healing and coming together. It is more important now more than ever to keep a running, open dialogue with each other. The issues we face affect all the citizens in the town.
Democracy is all about public participation and volunteerism. If we the people, all of the people, want an efficient government, we need constructive dialogue, and healthy differences of opinions. That type of discussions should be promoted in an encouraging way. We cannot define people as them and us. Labeling people causes more divisiveness because people will automatically stop listening because they are too busy assuming. This was a fantastic opportunity to meet so many wonderful people in Monroe and Newtown. I have learned that more of us think alike than differently and everyone wants what they think would be best for our community.
I wish Representative Hovey much success over the next two years and I would be glad to help her in any endeavor that benefits the citizens of Monroe and Newtown. Actually, the most progress usually occurs when dedicated individuals with policy differences work to find common ground. I will continue to be involved in our towns and willing to work with everyone to find solutions to the problems that face all of us.
Lastly, a big congratulations to Chris Liddy, who will do a wonderful job of giving Newtown a seat at the table in Hartford.
