The Newtown Menâs Sunday Slo-Pitch Softball League is looking for new teams and new players for the 2004 season - which starts in just a few months. Anyone interested can call Tom Egan at 426-5136.
Youth Lacrosse Coaches Sought
The Newtown Youth Lacrosse Association is searching for coaches (head and assistant) for the spring season. A head coach is needed at the Boys 7th/8th âBâ level and assistants are needed at the Boys 7th/8th and 5th/6th âBâ level. Free Indoor Soccer Clinics
The Newtown Soccer Club is offering free indoor winter skills training clinics to registered players in âEâ and âFâ divisions. Brian Neumeyer, Newtown High School boys soccer coach and Newtown Soccer Club Coaching/Training Director, will oversee the clinics. He will be assisted by members of the high school soccer teams. Players must wear indoor shoes or sneakers as well as shin guards. Players must also bring a soccer ball and water bottle. No cleats will be allowed to be worn in the gym. All training will be held in the gym at Hawley School from 4 to 5 pm on the following Mondays â Session #1: Girls will meet on 23; Session #2: Boys will meet on March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Any scheduling changes will be noted on the web at www.newtownsoccerclub.org.

Soccer Referee Certification
The Newtown Soccer Club will be offering a referee certification class for new referees. It is a six week class and will be held on the following dates: February 24, March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Weather (and field condition) permitting, a field session test will be held April 3. Students must attend all classes as well as the field test session. The classes will be held in the Newtown Middle School cafeteria from 6 to 8:30 pm (approximately). Referee candidates must be 12 years old as of the first class. The cost of the class is $60 and is reimbursable by NSC as long as the student passes the class (which includes a written exam) and refs a minimum of five games in the spring season. Soccer Development Program
AC Caldo, an advanced soccer development and training program in Northwestern Connecticut, is seeking U17 boys for its spring 2004 premier qualifying team sponsored by The Middlebury Soccer Association. The team will be coached by Joe Mancini of Soccer Extreme. Cost for winter and spring training, spring league, uniform and tournament play will be $469.
