ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS
MIND TYDES has another show in the immediate area coming up. After two
back-to-back shows at different Ives Street clubs in Danbury earlier this
month, the band returns to Danbury next Friday. The band will be at Classic
Rock Brew Pub on August 28.
After months and months of being on sale, tickets for next week's annual JIMMY
BUFFETT concert in Hartford have finally sold out.
Promoters have still not bothered to send in a line-up for this year's Gasball
festival in Danbury, but I'll remind you anyway that it is this weekend. The
fifth annual event -- hence the name Gasball 5 -- is an all day event that
will be at the CityCenter Green on Saturday, August 22.
The Globe Theatre is starting to pull together its fall schedule. New shows
have been announced by JORMA KAUKONEN, of Hot Tuna fame, on September 6;
BURNING SPEAR on September 17; and CULTURE, October 23. All shows begin at 8
pm. Tickets are on sale for each of these shows, and are cheaper in advance
than they will be at the door. Call the theatre, 852-0088, for details.
One week after BILLY JOEL makes his fourth appearance at the Hartford Civic
Center this year, ELTON JOHN will also be making a return to the Nutmeg State
(although CT fans have been waiting a little longer for John's latest return).
Tickets went on sale Monday morning for a Wednesday, September 16, show by
John. Available through TicketMaster outlets (or the Civic Center box office
directly, if you are nearby), tickets are $39.50 and $49.50 apiece.
Speaking of the Civic Center, it must have been quite a shock for HANSON
handlers when tickets for the boys' August 30 concert didn't immediately sell
out when they were put on sale last week. The teen sensation will be in
Hartford on August 30.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
