Seven Charges

Police said they arrested a Sandy Hook youth on seven charges April 20, after he was found to be driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Bennetts Bridge Road in a manner unsafe to himself and to two other people.

Police said they attempted to stop ATV driver Jordan Rancourt, 17, of 36 Bennetts Bridge Road at about 4:20 pm, but he fled the area. Police said they later found Rancourt and arrested him.

Police arrested Rancourt on two counts of violating ATV regulations, two counts of driving an unregistered motor vehicle, two counts of reckless driving, and one count of engaging police in pursuit. Reckless driving is a serious motor vehicle charge.

After processing Rancourt’s arrest, police released him into the custody of a parent. Rancourt is scheduled for arraignment on the charges May 4 in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Ulysses Carr, 20, of Hamden turned himself over to police at the police station on April 20, and was charged with failure to appear in court and with criminal trespassing.

Police said the trespassing charge stems from a September 28, 2004, incident. Carr posted $500 bail and was released for a May 4 court appearance.

Moving Violations

On April 20, police charged motorist Angelo Efthimiatos, 35, of Danbury with driving while under suspension and with driving an unregistered vehicle. Efthimiatos posted $100 bail for a May 6 court appearance.

Sandy Hook Altercation

Police said they went to 14 Osborne Hill Road in Sandy Hook on April 20 in response to a report of a dispute.

Police said Scott Alan Mas, 44, of 14 Osborne Hill Road, and Richard Reeves, 50, of 69 Engleside Terrace, had become involved in a verbal dispute, which escalated into a physical altercation.

Police said they charged each man with breach of peace. Both men were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court May 10.
