Jeanne Bamford Berkins, 89, of Eastham, Mass., died October 18 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass. She was the wife of the late Paul D. Berkins.
Mrs Berkins was born in Providence, R.I. She and her husband resided in Newtown for 30 years before retiring to Eastham in 1980.
She was active in various organizations including Girl Scouts of America, American Red Cross, Welcome Wagon and in more recent years, as a volunteer at Cape Cod Hospital and a local thrift shop. She was a bridge and quilting instructor. Her passions were her family, quilting, and the Red Sox.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Hughes and her husband, Peter, of Guilford; her son, Robert Berkins of Woodbury; and three grandchildren, Stephen, Douglas, and Bethany.
On Friday, October 21, family and friends may call from 10 to 10:30 am at St Joan of Arc Church, Canal Road, Orleans, Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs Berkins requested donations be made to the charity of oneâs choice.
