ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS
ROD STEWART has one theatre date scheduled this season in the country, and how
cool is this? -- it's at the Oakdale in Wallingford! Tickets will be available
as of 10 am Saturday, January 16, for a Saturday, February 27 concert. No
opener has been named, either, so this may be a full evening.
Watch out for your fingers, though -- if Stewart starts his tradition of
kicking soccer balls out into the audience, those bad boys are going to be
moving pretty quickly. Hope Stewart takes into account the relatively low
ceiling at the Oakdale. Otherwise, we're going to have some wild richochet
acting going on inside that theatre! (can you imagine?... it could be kind of
funny, actually)
Live jazz is the key for this Friday night at Borders in Danbury. On January
15, MIKE COPPOLA returns to the book store's Cafe for a performance of jazz
standards. Showtime is 8 pm, and admission is free.
Also performing at the book store this month will be PETER MURCHISON & MARK
BARDEN, Jan 16, with "an eclectic mix of blues, folk, rock, bluegrass and
original songs"; GENE PINO, on January 22; THE WIGGINS SISTERS, returning
January 23; and FRED GILLEN, JR, with his acoustic-based jazz and alternative
rock performance, January 30. All shows begin at 8 and are free of charge.
(But don't just sit in that small cafe and hog a seat... at least buy some
coffee and dessert while you're there!)
So Michael Jordan says he is retiring again, eh? I say I'll believe this one
if, 20 years down the road, Jordan is still sitting on the sidelines watching
the games. We've walked this walk, sang this song and danced this dance once
before. And what's up with retiring in the middle of the season? And an
abbreviated one, at that!
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
