ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

DAVE BRUBECK is teaming up with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra this month to

perform a benefit for Bread & Roses, the AIDS hospice home in Georgetown.

Brubeck's performance will also benefit the orchestra he and his quartet will

be performing with that evening.

"An Evening of Classical Pops" will take place Saturday, April 17, at 8 pm, at

Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue in Norwalk. A limited number of tickets

at $28 and $28 are still available. Veteran Brubeck conductor Russell Gloyd

will guide the orchestra through an evening of Brubeck classics, beginning

with "Summer Music," "Three To Get Ready" and "Theme for June," and ending

with "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk." For ticket information or

reservations, call 866-2455.

OVERKILL will return to Connecticut next month, with an all-ages show at

Toad's Place in New Haven on Monday, May 3. Tickets are $20 in advance, and

will be $22.50 at the door. No opener has been announced yet.

I'm curious to hear what you folks think of the band's new song, "Get A Job."

Personally, I don't care for it and I've heard from others who feel the same

way. On the other hand, I was visiting with a friend a few nights ago and he

nearly jumped out of his chair and started singing when the video came on. (I

nearly jumped out of my chair, too, but my excitement had more to with the

fact MTV was actually showing a video!) Drop me a line: shannon@thebee.com.

Still more concerts being added to the calendar at the SNET Oakdale Theatre in

Wallingford. On Saturday morning, tickets are going on sale for SANTANA, who

will be performing on May 28. Also going on sale are tickets for the

Connecticut return of BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA, July 17. Saturday also happens

to be the date for the BRUCE HORNSBY show at the Oakdale.

JIMMY BUFFETT's Connecticut return will be on August 31 this year, and

Saturday is also a big date in the state for local Parrot Heads because

Buffett's tickets will be going on sale at 10 am. Prices for this year's show

start at $27.60 for lawn seats and go as high as $54.60 for the closest

pavilion seats.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
