To the Editor:

Wanted: Someone with a knowledge of the history of Newtown, the benefits that past legislative decisions have made, world experience outside of the community, and a dedication to volunteer work. Knowledge of the fiscal working of our town preferred.

If this was a job posting for Legislative Council for District 3, one person comes to mind: Kelley Johnson!

Kelley is a Newtown native who has seen the benefits of investments in our community as a child growing up in our town, and has made it a point to give back as an adult. Have you visited Booth Library, attended the Book Fair or the Arts Festivals? If so, you have benefited from Kelley's volunteerism. Have you attended any Board of Finance meetings? Then you have witnessed Kelley's business acumen from her years of working at Intel.

For me, I have known Kelley as a friend and a neighbor. She has demonstrated her creative approaches to problem solving from the simplest to most complex situations facing her; always with a sense of humor that helps keep everything in perspective. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to family and community.

Kelley Johnson is my choice for Legislative Council, District 3, because she has lifelong ties to Newtown, world knowledge that can expand our possibilities, and a history of "giving back" to our community - all the qualities we need as we move forward.
