A Proposal That Is Out Of Character

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to the editor to say I am against the proposed Hunters Ridge planned construction. The plans call for 370 rental apartments, 224 dwellings, 396 residential parking spaces, 170 spaces for retail uses, 82 spaces for office use, nine six-vehicle garages, and three eight-vehicle carports. Included will be medical offices, retail stores, restaurants, and the rental units.

We do not need more medical offices, retail stores, restaurants, and the rental units. The Dental Associates' old building up by the flagpole is still available, and there are two buildings on Route 6 headed toward Stony Hill with more than 70 vacancies. Retail stores are in the process of being built across from Blue Colony Diner on Church Hill Road, the shops in the shopping center on Route 25 where Butcher's Best is located have a few vacancies, the Panera Bread facility located in the Stop & Shop shopping center is still vacant.

Traffic is a nightmare today without adding more on Walnut Tree Hill Road and Church Hill Road. When taking a traffic study, check the hours between 7 and 9 am in the morning and 3 to 5 pm in the afternoon. What a nightmare.

The sewer system located on Commerce Road is at its maximum capacity now and will need to be addressed as we move into the future. The overall proposed project is totally out of character with the surrounding homes and the Walnut Tree condo units. Many of the homes have wells for water, and there is a concern of an impact on these wells.
