Business name: Crystal Nails & Spa

Address: 228 South Main Street

Owner: Lisa Sun

Business background: Crystal Nails & Spa opened in the Sand Hill Plaza right before Mother's Day in early May.

Manager Shery Liu says this is the company's first location in Connecticut, but that the company "has stores in New York and Long Island."

Looking to expand, Ms Liu says company employees were encouraged to start a salon in Newtown from people that they knew who enjoyed living and working in town. They solidified their decision upon finding the community of people to be very welcoming and kind.

Business focus: "We do everything," Ms Liu said.

Crystal Nails & Spa specializes in manicures and pedicures using UV gel and gel powder. Brands used include OPI, Essie, Dare To Wear, and Perfect Match.

The salon also offers spa treatments like facials, massages, waxing, eyelash extensions, and even foot reflexology.

Guests can relax and enjoy those services while sipping on complimentary coffee, tea, juice, or water and watching movies on Netflix.

There are also a number of organic products available, including the lavender healing therapy massage lotion from La Palm Spa Products.

Important to know: Crystal Nails & Spa is a clean environment with brand-new everything.

Ms Liu says the salon offers good service at a competitive price, provided by kind employees.

Crystal Nails & Spa can also host private parties for special events like birthdays, baby or bridal showers, as well as for prom. A variety of food and drink selections can be provided depending on the group and occasion, too.

Near future promotions and seasonal specials: There is a special available everyday at Crystal Nails & Spa.

Monday through Wednesday there are free ten-minute back massages for those getting spa manicure and pedicures; on Thursday there is 30 percent off all waxing; and Friday through Sunday there are free eyebrow/lip waxing with spa manicure and pedicures.

A rewards card is also available for guests where upon receiving ten stamps from nail visits the next nail service is free.

Hours: Crystal Nails & Spa is open seven days a week. Monday through Saturday, from 10 am to 7 pm; and Sunday, from 10 to 6 pm.
