Newtown Historical Society Autumn Open House, 12-4 pm. The Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main Street, free, public invited to visit historical society’s headquarters, a circa 1750 house that will be decorated for Colonial era mourning, guests will be invited to create their own mourning cockade (black ribbon medallion worn by neighbors and friends when someone died), also presentations on Colonial superstitions, tours available from costumed docents; 203-426-5937, newtownhistory.org.
