Annual NMS Eighth Grade Scarecrow Contest Voting, 9 am-5 pm, Newtown Middle School front lawn, 11 Queen Street, $1/vote, public invited to vote for their favorite scarecrow, selecting from those on display, crafted by groups of middle school eighth grade students, top three winning teams will divide funds received through votes and donate those funds to local nonprofits of their choice, voting continues October 22.
