Liberty & Peace Monument, Main Street at Hanover Road*
Members of American Legion Post 202 and Newtown Woman’s Club will place American flags at monument, luminaria will be lit, and “Taps” will be played, First Selectman Dan Rosenthal will offer comments, flags and luminaria will be left in place through sunrise Tuesday, May 31, co-hosted by Borough of Newtown, public invited to purchase luminary in advance to honor loved ones ($5 each); 203-577-9568, AmericanLegionNewtown@gmail.com.
*Thos planning to attend will be asked to park at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, and walk to monument; Newtown PD will have officers helping with traffic and pedestrian safety, according to event organizers
