Dermot Daly, 43, of Roxbury, died August 15. Born March 12, 1975, in New York City, he grew up in Fairfield and Newtown.

His beloved mother, Alice Daly; his siblings and their spouses, Paul and Maggie Daly, Brigid and Jimmy Farmer, Alice Daly, Keelin Daly, and Mary Daly; three nephews, and one niece survive him.

His father, Dermot Daly, and his brother, Brendan Daly, predeceased him. A natural in mathematics, Mr Daly’s loved ones say his death tragically defies statistical odds: his younger brother, Brendan, died less than eight weeks ago, as both were killed in motor vehicle accidents.

When submerged in beautiful countryside of Newtown, Mr Daly explored it on bike rides, tailed by his dog. His love of the outdoors led him and his older brother, Paul, to start a landscaping company, which they operated throughout Mr Daly’s formative years. He then followed his brother Brendan into the world of horses, joining Dandy Products of New Canaan, where they made custom padding for show horses and sports stadiums.

Mr Daly moved with the company to Ohio and later returned to Connecticut, where he worked with Don Paul Mechanical, earning a five-year apprenticeship with local 777 Steamfitters and Plumbers. Dubbed a “walking calculator” by fellow pipefitters, Mr Daly developed a skill set unique in its range. He became an exceptional plumber, pipefitter, welder, mechanic, and fabricator in his professional life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, August 21, at noon, in St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Route 317, Roxbury. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 208 South Main Street, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Little Britches Therapeutic Riding Program at littlebritchesct.org. Little Britches has grown with the help of his aunt and sisters, and Mr Daly volunteered there.
