Do you believe in ghosts?

Gary Fleming: “No, I think it is a bunch of malarkey!”

Rose Larkin: “I believe there are ghosts, particularly in older houses.”

Lauren Abdulrahman: “Yes, definitely! My mother once took a picture of her cat. In the photograph, the cat has its back arched slightly and next to him you can see a shadowy figure — like someone with a bathrobe on. My grandmother died in that house, so my family thinks it might be her spirit.”

Cleo Conk: “Yes! Once I read a story about an Austrian lady who took a picture of her daughter’s grave. In the picture, you can see a little girl sitting right on top of it!”

Mary Fellows: “Definitely — especially in Newtown! When I was a girl I lived for a time on Washington Avenue. The house had it all! We heard footsteps in the middle of the night after everyone was in bed. Sometimes the covers were jerked off of us. I’ve also had some strange experiences on a farm on Platts Hill Road. Once, I smelled smoke and was sure there was a fire — but it was nothing.”

John Baken: “Absolutely! I live in an older house, and some people think it may be haunted. Of course, its’ often the living people that can be the scariest!”
