Target “Stars on Ice”

The Parks and Recreation Department is running a trip to the Hartford Civic Center on Sunday, March 12, 2000 to see the highly acclaimed Target “Stars on Ice” show. Olympic Gold Medal winners Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton and many other champion figure skaters will be performing. The cost is $55.00 per ticket, which includes school bus transportation. The bus will leave from the Newtown Middle School at 1:00 p.m. sharp for a 4:00 p.m. performance. Call the Parks and Recreation office for registration information.

 

Water Safety Instructor Course

A Water Safety Instructor Course will start Monday, April 17, 2000 at the Newtown High School pool. The Department is particularly interested in having adults take this course. If you have a swimming background and would be interested in teaching swimming to children during the fall and winter months, please call Barbara Kasbarian at 270-4340. This course is open to anyone 17 years and older. For further information, please call the Parks and Recreation office.

Beginning Meditation

Join us for two informative evenings of meditation instruction. Instructor Rose Bergen will teach the skills of focusing the mind and attending to the present moment. This classic and systematic approach to meditation addresses body, breath and mind.  Classes are held at the Teen Center on Monday, February 28 and March 6 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. The fee is $33.00.
