Gymnasts Second In Pomperaug Invitational And Against Oxford

Newtown High School's gymnastics team was second in the Pomperaug Invitational in Southbury, on January 6. The Nighthawks scored 132.550 points and Fairfield Ludlowe won the meet with 134.100. Daniel Hand of Madison (131.300) and Oxford (129.600) were third and fourth. Newtown results are as follows:

All Around: 6. Emma Delia 34.4; 8. Hannah Jojo 33.45; 9. Ally Kenny 33.100. Bars: 5. (tie) Delia and Jojo 8.3; 7. Kenny 8.0. Beam: 1. Delia 9.4; 7. Jojo 8.95. Floor: 6. Delia 8.8; 8. Jojo 8.6.

Newtown competed in a meet at New Milford High on January 9. Oxford was first with a team score of 127.250, and Newtown placed second with a score of 126.850, edging New Milford, which compiled 126.400. Delia was second in all around with a score of 34.95.
