Jeanette Canfield (Lewis) Perry, 90, a resident of Bethel and Englewood, Fla., passed from this life on March 6, 2019, at The Cascades Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 2, 1929, in Danbury, she was the daughter of Genevive and Claude (Andrews) Lewis.

Jeanette grew up in Newtown and was married to Eldean Perry, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one sister, Martha Didato of Milford; and six children, Clifford (Diana) Canfield of Danbury, Richard Jackson of Southbury, Richard (Angie) Canfield, Susan Kerigan of Monroe, Nancy Cardinale (Ken Serke) of Sandy Hook, and Lori Traisci (Mark Locorotondo) of Newtown.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Bill, Jesse Charles, and Donald Lewis; and one sister, Marion Fortier.

Jeanette had 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews and a best friend, Ginger Maraglino.

Jeanette graduated from Hawley High School in 1947, where she served as a secretary for the Newtown Chapter of the F.F.A., as a member of the glee club, and on the prom committee. She was vice president of Canfield Construction and retired to Florida in 1994, where she lived until returning to Connecticut in 2011 to be with her family.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved the beach and the Gulf of Mexico, in particular, where she spent most of her time collecting shells and shark teeth. She also loved to fish the inter-coastal waterway with her buddy, Jack Hayden.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the amazing staff of The Cascades, who helped to fill her last four-and-a-half years with love and exceptional care, and Regional Hospice and Palliative Care for making her last week’s comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, donations and contributions can be made to Regional Hospice of Danbury, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury CT 06810.
