Joy DuBail, 72, wife of Arnold H. DuBail of Monroe, died peacefully July 13, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 27, 1941, to Thelma Curtis MacDonald and Ray A. MacDonald.

Her husband of 50 years; her three children, Mark DuBail of Newtown, Chris DuBail of Greenville S.C., and Dawn Laughlin, and her husband John, of Monroe; four grandchildren; sisters Janet Spinning and Judy Hamilton; brother Ray MacDonald, and wife Michelle; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives survive Mrs DuBail. Her parents; a brother, Robert MacDonald; and two nephews predeceased her. She leaves behind a legacy of giving.

Mrs DuBail was a resident of Monroe for the last 45 years. She worked in the Monroe school system as an educational aide in the 1970s and 1980s, and spent 17 years working for the Trumbull Board of Education.

Family and friends remember her as the kindest and most loving of souls, whose greatest love was for God and family. She was known for being a selfless, giving woman who always had time for those in need. She was an integral and active member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church on the Green in Monroe. She led St Peter’s youth group for 13 years, was a part of the Episcopal Church Women’s group, church choir, and other church activities. Her passion and infectious smile made anything she was involved in a success. She was very energetically involved in Relay for Life for the past nine years and was a member of Beacon Hill women's bible study.

She took much happiness and pride in being an essential part of her grandchildren’s lives, and also loved to travel.

The family gives special thanks to all the caregivers encountered over the past year, and to Oncology Associates and Bridgeport Hospital.

A memorial service will take place Friday, July 19, at 5 pm, at St Peter’s Episcopal Church on the Green, 175 Old Tannery Road, Monroe. Friends may visit Tuesday, July 16, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
