Paths To The Finals

How Newtown and Glastonbury Got Here …

No. 1 Glastonbury: Went 16-0 in the regular season, had its Central Connecticut Conference tournament canceled because of Superstorm Sandy, earned the top seed in the Class LL state tourney. In states, Glastonbury had a first round bye, beat No. 16 Fairfield Ludlowe 1-0 in the second round, defeated No. 25 Darien 4-0 in the quarterfinals, and edged No. 5 Trumbull 1-0 in the semifinals.

No. 6 Newtown: Went 12-1-3 in the regular season, reached the South-West Conference championship game, and earned the No. 6 seed in the state tourney. Newtown beat No. 27 Staples of Westport 1-0 in the first round, blanked No. 11 Greenwich 2-0 in the second round, held off No. 3 South Windsor, 2-1, in the quarterfinals, and knocked off No. 26 New Milford 2-0 in the semifinals.
