Preschool Classes

At NYFS

Newtown Youth & Family Services will begin a new series of preschool classes, for ages 3–6, next month.

Classes will be taught in the organization’s large activity room at 17 Church Hill Road, and will begin the week of September 12, run for seven weeks, and are $40 for the full series.

Registration is requested no later than September 6 and can be done in person or by calling NYFS at 203-270-4335. Class details are as follows:

*Icky Sticky & Goo: The perfect class for preschoolers to socialize, work on fine motor skills, and create works of art while making edible play dough and super silly putty, creating shaving cream art, and exploring other art forms. Classes are Tuesdays, 9 to 9:40 am. NYFS staff will provide the mess and clean up the mess; parents need to just provide a smock.

*Story & Snack: Children will be introduced to new characters and stories while making a healthy snack. Classes will meet from 10 to 10:40 am (no class September 27 or October 25, however).

Parents need to make sure they provide NYFS with any food allergies their child has.

*Food Creations: Children will use different types of food to create artwork including necklaces, self-portraits, stamps and more, on Thursdays, 9 to 9:40 am.

*Fall Friends: Enjoy bobbing for apples, decorating pumpkins and making scarecrows. Classes will be Thursdays, 10 to 10:40 am, and will be going outside so children should be dressed for outdoor activities.
