Stephen Louis Tranzillo, 75, of Danbury, beloved husband of Phyllis (Antedomenico) Tranzillo, died peacefully August 24, at home. He was born in Port Chester, N.Y., December 5, 1942, and was the son of the late Louis and Janet (Bamford) Tranzillo.

His loving wife of 51 years, Phyllis; two daughters and their spouses, Cara and Tom Pellicone, Jr, of Newtown and Amy and Larry Pittman of Bristol; five beloved grandchildren, George, Stephen, and Charles Pittman and Sam and Julio Pellicone; his sister, Jill Fisher and her husband, Donald, of Middlebury; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

His sister, Susan J. Luz of Scottsdale, Ariz., predeceased him.

After moving with his family to Norwalk in 1954, Mr Tranzillo continued his education and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1960. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduating from Quinnipiac College. He served for three years, including nine months in Vietnam, and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Mr Tranzillo retired from a career in sales, giving him more time to pursue his true passion: golf, a game he enjoyed throughout his life. He began golfing and caddying at nine years of age at Shore Haven Country Club in Norwalk. Eventually, he found his way to playing at Richter Park Golf Course in Danbury, where he twice shot his best round of 68 and served as the Men’s Club president for several years. He enjoyed competing in tournaments and friendly matches there for 18 years. Mr Tranzillo joined Heritage Village Country Club in Southbury in 1999, where for two years he recorded the most rounds played. He was fortunate to build many relationships on the golf course over the years that provided camaraderie, support, and joy.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 29, from 4 to 7 pm, at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury.

A Memorial service will take place Thursday, August 30, at 10 am, at Danbury United Methodist Church, 5 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury.

Memorial donations may be made to Regional Hospice and Palliative Care Center for Comfort Care & Healing, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury CT 06810.
