If a great summer Saturday consists of friends and neighbors enjoying great food, cool vendors, and awesome music, The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown and Newtown Parks and Recreation has just the thing, as they present the Third Annual Newtown Day celebration on Saturday, July 27, at Fairfield Hills, from 11 am to 8 pm.

Newtown Day will feature 20-plus food trucks or food tents, along with loads of vendors and family activities like face-painting, inflatable stations, and more.

This year’s Master of Ceremonies is chamber member, radio personality, and Newtown Bee associate editor John Voket of 99Dollar DJ & Entertainment Service.

Rock Elite Music’s Grant Ossendryver is Newtown Day’s music director.

“Event patrons will be entertained by music from four different bands. Kicking off the performances at 11:55 will be Samantha Murtha singing our “Star Spangled Banner,” Mr Ossendryver said. “At noon, visitors can hear the band Sound Beacon. Log River Jam goes on at 2 pm; from 4 to 5:30 pm, it’s Accidental Breakdown; and The Renegades close out the day from 6 to 7:30 pm.”

Adults can cool down with a beverage or two at the Brew Garden, managed by Chilled ‘N Distilled and featuring Reverie Brewing Beer on tap as well as Downeast Cider and a Cabernet and Chardonnay from Vine Leaf.

The Brew Garden will be serving from noon until last call at 7:30 pm.

Admission is $3 for anyone 12 and over. Inflatables and some other kids’ activities are not included in the ticket price.

Shuttle buses will be provided from the Newtown Middle School to Fairfield Hills. Parking for the event has also been reserved at the Reed Intermediate School on Trades lane and on the campus at Fairfield Hills.

Judith Miller, vice president of the chamber said, “We are looking forward to Newtown Day 2019.

“This year, we have added more free activities and entertainment for the kids, more bands, and a larger Brew Garden. We enjoy working with Parks and Recreation each year on this event and appreciate all of our sponsors and supporters who help make it possible — Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital, Dental Associates of Connecticut, Manzi Insurance, Caraluzzi’s, Chilled ‘N Distilled, The Newtown Bee, Townsquare Media: i95 Radio, Kicks 105.5, and 940 WNE Sports Radio. And we thank eFriend Marketing, Rock Elite Music, and MC John Voket for their help in planning, managing, and promoting this event.”
