To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for Will Rodgers for 106th District state representative. While I am a member of the Legislative Council, I am writing this letter as a citizen of Newtown. I have sat on the council with Will for three years. I have firsthand witnessed his principled judgment and attentive reasoning on town affairs. Will considers not what is politically expedient, but rather what is best for Newtown. During my tenure, Will and I have not always reached the same conclusions, but he has always clearly expressed why he votes the way he does and the attorney in him enables him to articulate very convincing arguments supporting his positions. As council chairman, his leadership has been impeccable. He can control contentious deliberations while showing respect for his fellow council members, regardless of party affiliation, and the public alike.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not only one of Will’s strongest supporters, but I am his campaign manager, too. Last June I gladly accepted when Will asked me to take such an important role in his campaign because I know he is most capable to continue Julia’s hard work. Will is a team player who will cooperate with Representative Hovey, Senator McKinney and other area legislators to solve our economic problems and increase the efficiency of state government.

Newtown needs someone in Harford who can credibly argue on behalf of us; someone who has the leadership credentials and experience to get right to work in January. We need a representative who not only knows how state mandates adversely impact our town, but has specific ideas on how to bring more of the money we send to Hartford back. We need Will Rodgers representing Newtown so I encourage all in the 106th District to cast a vote for Will on Tuesday.
