VNS Serves Newtown

To the Editor:

The following letter is regarding Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut, Inc., and recent fund-raising letters which we sent to residents of Newtown.

Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut, Inc., a non-profit home care organization, was founded in 1909 in Bridgeport and since that time has continuously provided nursing and other needed home care services to thousands of residents of many communities in Connecticut. While Bridgeport remains home to our headquarters and our Bridgeport branch office, we also have branch offices in Derby, Norwalk, Southbury, and Torrington. From these branch offices, during our last fiscal year, our patient care staff made over 300,000 visits to patients’ homes in over 50 communities.

One of the communities to which we are proud to provide service is Newtown. Over the years, we have cared for many Newtown residents, have graciously received donations from Newtown residents, and are fortunate to have members of our talented staff who are Newtown residents. In addition, we are privileged to have a dedicated vice chairman of our board of directors, who is also a Newtown resident.

The recent fund-raising letters, which we sent to Newtown residents, were also sent to residents of Southbury, Roxbury, Naugatuck, and other area communities served by our organization. We are extremely proud of the care that our staff and volunteers provide and we are equally very grateful to all of the individuals who have supported our efforts. We shall endeavor to use the funds we raise wisely as we continue our 90-year mission of providing care to those in need.
