Camera Club To Host Competition, Hands On Program

On Thursday, January 15, Flagpole Photographers Camera Club will host its first general meeting and photo competition of the new year.

January’s assigned subject is “Animals (non-domesticated).” Club members will be challenged to showcase their creativity for capturing animal photography. There will also be competitions in Digital, Black & White and Open Color.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 pm in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. The public is welcome to attend and view the photos, but the competition is open only to members. Light refreshments will be served.

On Thursday, February 5, the club will host its next program night. “Getting To Know Your Camera” will featuring an open discussion on photography tips and tricks.

The hands-on workshop will allow participants to handle their own camera, and practice taking pictures on various aperture speed, ISO, and point-and-shoot settings. Advanced photographers will be in attendance to answer questions.

The event, which will also begin at 7:30 in the library’s meeting room, will also allow new photographers to learn about the local photography club.

Flagpole Photographers is a local non-profit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers. Members come from diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from beginning novices to professional photographers.

The season runs from September through June. Monthly print competitions are held at the library, as are educational programs., assigned subjects, and programs are included in the schedule at FlagpolePhotographers.com.
