Forgery Charges

Newtown Police report that on December 26, Vlora Ajdari, 42, of Brewster, N.Y., turned herself in to Newtown Police after learning there was an arrest warrant issued for her.

The warrant was the result of an investigation conducted by Officer Charles Guernsey following a larceny and fraud complaint made on September 1, 2023.

Ajdari was charged with third-degree larceny and eight counts of third-degree forgery.

Ajdari was released on a $2,500 bond with a court date of January 9 in Danbury Superior Court.

Struck Mailbox

Newtown Police report Maclane Hart, 17, of Newtown, operating a 2004 Honda Accord, was traveling southbound on Mt Pleasant Road at 12:39 am December 28. Hart’s vehicle went off the roadway left and struck a mailbox before coming to a rest in a lawn.

No injuries were reported. Hart’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Hart was issued an infraction for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Off Roadway Into Rock

Newtown Police report Melissa Windover, 30, of Chicago, Ill., operating a 2015 Acura MDX, was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road at 2:53 pm December 29. Windover’s vehicle ran off the roadway, striking a rock on the shoulder, which rendered the vehicle inoperative.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

Windover was issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.

One Injured

Newtown Police report Cole Sgagliardich, 17, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road at 1:58 pm December 30. He was traveling behind a 2020 Nissan Rogue operated by Lauren Tilson, 42, of Bridgeport. Tilson stopped in traffic to turn left into the commercial parking lot at 51 Berkshire Road, and Sgagliardich did not stop in time, rear-ending Tilson’s vehicle.

Tilson was transported to Danbury Hospital for possible injuries. Neither vehicle was towed.

Sgagliardich was issued an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Flipped Car

Newtown Police report Pedro Serrano, 45, of Seymour, operating a 2008 Ford Escape, was traveling southbound on Botsford Hill Road at 4:09 am December 31. Serrano lost control of the vehicle while on a downhill corner, and it flipped over on its roof.

Serrano received a minor injury but declined medical transport. The vehicle was towed.

Serrano was issued an infraction for failure to maintain the proper lane.

Porsche Collides With BMW

Newtown Police report Zoe Kochor, 20, of Trumbull, operating a 2018 Porsche Macan, was traveling eastbound on Mile Hill Road west of Tinkerfield Road at 4:41 pm January 2. She was traveling ahead of a 2013 BMW 335i operated by Bruno Ranolfi, 18, of Sandy Hook. Kochor moved her vehicle to the right, moved over the white line and slowed down. Kochor then turned right onto Tinkerfield road and then quickly turned left, as if she was attempting to do a U-turn in the intersection. Kochor’s vehicle struck Ranolfi’s vehicle while pulling back onto Mile Hill Road.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

Kochor was issued an infraction for unsafe movement.

Towed From Lawn

Newtown Police report Karen Riccitelli, 77, of New Milford, operating a 2014 Chrysler 200 Touring, was traveling on Parmalee Hill Road at 3:55 pm January 3. While negotiating a curve in the roadway, and being unfamiliar with the area, Riccitelli saw a driveway and believed this was the direction of the roadway, as the driveway was downhill just as the road was.

The homeowner was outside at the time and observed Riccitelli’s vehicle drive over her driveway and downhill onto her yard. The homeowner asked Riccitelli to not move the vehicle as it would tear up her lawn.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed back uphill onto the roadway.

No enforcement action was mentioned in the report.

Both Vehicles Towed

Newtown Police report Sarah Attanasio, 30, of Newtown, operating a 2016 Kia Soul, was traveling on Church Hill Road at 6:29 pm on January 3. Judith Schultz, 71, of Newtown, operating a 2015 Dodge Durango, was stopped at the red light. Attanasio rear-ended Schultz’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed.

Attanasio was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and failure to renew registration.

Threatening Charges

Newtown Police report that on January 4, an officer arrested Matthew Grills, 37, of Newtown, on a warrant. The warrant stems from an incident in October 2023 in which Grills threatened individuals. Grills was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment.

He was unable to post a $2,500 bond and was held in police custody until his court appointment the next day in Danbury Superior Court.

Criminal Mischief Charge

Newtown Police arrested Jermaine Gage, 41, of New Milford, at 2:48 pm January 5, on the charges of third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of January 18.

Keys Found

Newtown Police report that on January 6, a citizen turned in a green jacket and set of keys found on the side of the road in the area of 57 Scudder Road.

Spun Off Road

Newtown Police report Anna Alvarado, 25, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., operating a 2023 Kia Sportage, was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road at 6:02 am January 7. While negotiating a downhill left hand turn in the roadway, Alvarado’s vehicle spun out 180 degrees and ran off the roadway right, where it struck the end of a guardrail.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

Alvarado was issued a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Struck Own Car

Newtown Police report Matthew Bertram-Roesing, 29, of Naugatuck, operating a 2023 Ford F-350 owned by the town of Newtown, was entering the parking lot of 92 Church Hill Road at 5:22 am January 8. A 2022 Nissan Sentra owned by Bertram-Roesing was parked in the lot. The plow on the front of the Ford F-350 made contact with the Nissan Sentra.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Probation Violation Charge

Newtown Police report that Stephen Marron, 62, of Sandy Hook, turned himself in to the Newtown Police Department after learning there was a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested on the charge of violation of probation and released on a $5,000 appearance bond with a court date of January 23 in Danbury Superior Court.

Hit Oncoming Car

Newtown Police report Yan Chau-Leung, 57, of Danbury, operating a 2006 Mercedes-Benz S430, was traveling northwest on Peck’s Lane at 7:01 pm January 8. Michael McGlogan, 65, of Oxford, operating a 2015 Lincoln MKX, was traveling southeast on Peck’s Lane. Chau-Leung crossed over the centerline and struck McGlogan’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Chau-Leung’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Chau-Leung was issued an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane.

Slid On Ice

Newtown Police report Spencer Jorgenson, 17, of Newtown, operating a 2003 Toyota Camry, was traveling northbound on Washbrook Road at 8:07 pm January 8. Due to the roadway’s icy conditions, while negotiating a curve in the roadway, Jorgenson’s vehicle ran off the roadway and into the bank of a culvert, and then struck a tree.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken.

Three Car Collision

Newtown Police report Nathan Twitchell, 16, of Newtown, operating a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, was traveling eastbound on Church Hill Road at 7:55 am January 9. Connor Kwarcinski, 18, of Newtown, operating a 2008 Buick Enclave, was traveling eastbound ahead of Twitchell and Benjamin Barber, 17, of Newtown, operating a 2021 Volvo XC40, was traveling eastbound ahead of Kwarcinski. Barber and Kwarcinski slowed in traffic, and Twitchell did not stop in time to avoid contact with Kwarcinski’s vehicle, which was pushed forward into Barber’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Twitchell’s vehicle was towed.

Twitchell received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Passing In No Passing Zone

Newtown Police report Sidney Rodriguez, 26, of Newtown, operating a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, was traveling southbound on Hattertown Road at 7:22 pm January 9. She was traveling behind a 2020 Ram PRM operated by Robert Lydon, 50, of Unionville. Rodriguez attempted to pass Lydon’s vehicle, which was turning left, but instead struck it.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

Rodriguez received a verbal warning for passing in a no passing zone.
