UPDATE (Friday, January 23, 2015): Due to a snowstorm expected on January 24, the opening reception of Ms Prosia’s exhibition, as well as the “Humor Me!” members’ show, has been bumped to its planned snow date of Sunday, January 25. This story has been updated to reflect this change of plans.

RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield Guild of Artists Upstairs Gallery will host “The Never Ending Line: the line etchings of DeAnn L. Prosia,” an exhibition of over 30 etchings by the Newtown artist, January 24 until February 22.

This exhibition was awarded to Ms Prosia after she was received a first place honor from juror Laura Einstein during last year’s RGA Member’s Exhibition. Ms Einstein’s career in the arts includes working at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, as curator for Fairfield Arts Council, and as executive director at The Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk.

Ms Prosia started creating etchings over 25 years ago. The etchings are all hand drawn and take anywhere from 20 to 250 hours to create depending on the size. She etches the image onto copper plates, inks the plate, and prints an edition.

Ms Prosia’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. As well as locally, last year her work traveled to England, Colorado and Minneapolis, and earned her an award from the 2014 Pacific States Biennial National Print Exhibition in Hilo, Hawaii. She is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in American Art and her work is in the New-York Historical Society Museum Collection and New York Public Library Print Collection.

Her work can also be seen at The Old Print Shop Gallery in New York City and on her website, www.DeAnnLProsia.com.

The Ridgefield exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, January 24, from 4 to 6 pm (snow date Sunday, January 25, also 4-6).

RGA is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2015. In its main gallery during the same timeframe Ms Prosia’s works will be on view, the guild will be presenting “Humor Me!” a themed member show. Members have been encouraged to submit recent works, “whatever tickles your funny bone — irony, satire, spoof, levity, whimsy, playfulness — any and all humorous work is encouraged.” An opening reception for this exhibition is also planned for Saturday afternoon, with snow date on Sunday.

The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4 pm. RGA is at 34 Halpin Lane.

For additional information call 203-438-8863 or visit rgoa.org.

Newtown resident and etching artist DeAnn L. Prosia will be featured in a one-artist show at Ridgefield Guild of Artists, January 24-February 22. Ms Prosia was awarded the exhibition after she received a first place honor during last year’s RGA Members Exhibition. Included among the works on view will be “Homebound,” above, and “New Entrance,” below. RGA will host an opening reception on Saturday, January 24.
