Domenic Cartelli's three goals helped Newtown High School's hockey team to its third straight win - a 6-4 victory over Horace Greeley of New York, at Danbury Ice Arena, on January 21. The Nighthawks improved to 7-2 this winter.

Scott McLean scored twice and Lucas O'Brien added another tally for the Hawks. Newtown built leads of 4-0 and 6-2.

McLean had three assists, Cartelli had two assists, and Jack Hanley, Scott Bauer, Devin Marsh, and David Brestovansky all had setups.

Goaltender Kyle Murphy played 40 if the game's 45 minutes and was solid between the pipes.

Newtown Coach Paul Esposito noted that Jetson Ku and Kyle Vitolo were strong on defense, and that O'Brien, Marsh, and Hanley set the tone with good forechecking.

Penalty killing by Marc Carlson, Matthias Paltauf, Hanley, O'Brien, Brestovansky, and Marsh continues to help the Hawks win this season, Esposito said.
