The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present its Color in Winter Art Show & Sale for two months at Newtown Municipal Center.

The annual presentation will be on view weekdays, February 1 to March 29. SCAN members will be presenting original works in the main corridor of the municipal center, 3 Primrose Street. Paintings, drawings, illustrations, and collages will all be accepted into the show. Sculpture and photography are not part of SCAN’s oeuvre.

Artists who are not members of SCAN are invited to join the group before or on the day of receiving. Contact Show Chair Pam Danneman at 203-270-7031 or visit scanart.org for information.

Two special events are planned for Wednesday, February 27. Beginning at 1:30 that afternoon, Jim Laurino will lead a 90-minute demonstration on creating a landscape using oils. This will serve as SCAN’s monthly program for February (usually presented at Newtown Meeting House).

Following that program, the group will host an artists’ reception, also within the exhibition space, from 3 until 4:30 pm.

The public is invited to both events, free of charge.

The bright colors found in “Flanders, Woodbury, CT,” by Chuck Fulkerson will be mirrored by dozens of additional works that will also be included in this year’s presentation of Color in Winter Show & Sale by The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown. The annual exhibition is scheduled to return to Newtown Municipal Center on February 1.
