Free Tax Preparation Help

Free advice and assistance in preparing income tax returns for the year 2000 will be available to individual taxpayers beginning February 6. This service is offered by the IRS Volunteer Income Tax (VITA) program and will be offered at the Cyrenius H. Booth library every Tuesday afternoon between 1 and 4:30 pm from February 6 through April 10. No appointment is necessary.

Taxpayers using forms 1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040 and their appropriate schedules can have returns completed by an IRS trained volunteer. They should bring this year’s tax package, earnings statements (W2), interest and dividend statements (1099), a copy of last year’s returns, and any other relevant information regarding year 2000 income and expenses.
