To the Editor:

On behalf of the town firefighters of Santa Cruz de Quiche  Guatemala, I have been asked to extend their heartfelt appreciation for Newtown fire departments continual donations of surplus fire equipment for over the last ten years. A recent shipment which I forwarded consisted of just over a dozen sets of firefighting gear, plus fire hose which will undoubtedly protect the brother firefighters in Central America.

Seeking words that express how delighted these experienced firefighters were while for the first time putting  on protective equipment the likes to which they have never worn before is difficult to convey.

As I am proud of my association with the fire departments of Newtown, so must you for their outstanding commitment to saving and protecting lives. A heartfelt thank you Newtown.
