Newtown High School's spring musical will be held at Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, according to NHS Choral Director and Production Director Jane Matson, who made the announcement Thursday, February 2.matsonj@newtown.k12.ct.us

With the NHS auditorium renovation project ongoing, this year's musical is being prepared like a touring company show, as previously reported in The Newtown Bee. Rehearsals are being held in the high school's cafetorium, and the entire production will be transferred to Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road, for the weekend the production is being staged.

Evita shares the story Eva and Juan Perón's rise to power to become president and first lady of Argentina.

Performances will be held Thursday, March 23, to Sunday, March 26. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening performances will be at 7 pm. Matinee performances will be both Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm.

Evita producer Janice Gabriel said she excited to have a venue for the show.

"It should be a great place," said Ms Gabriel on Monday, February 6.

Rehearsals continued this week, and on Tuesday, February 7, NHS senior and production stage manager Monique Dubois and junior and stage manager Harrison Hoffert looked on as senior Allie Indelicato, the production's associate choreographer, led a group of students in rehearsing a scene from the show.

.To offset expected rental costs and expenses from moving the production, donations, sponsors, and volunteers are being sought. Anyone interested in donating, sponsoring the show, or volunteering can e-mail Ms Matson at
