St Rose of Lima School celebrated Catholic Schools Week, recognized nationally January 29 to February 3, with a range of activities and events.

The week began with a pep rally on Monday, January 30, and ended with a performance by the Yale Spizzwinks, based out of Yale University, New Haven.

Other activities throughout the week included a faculty and staff appreciation day that, along with celebrations of faculty, raised money for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary; a student appreciation day that included a student talent show; and the eighth grade students taking on members of the faculty and staff in an evening basketball game.

"Welcome to the Catholic Schools Week Talent Show," St Rose of Lima School Principal Sister Colleen Therese Smith said to a gathered school assembly on Thursday, February 2.

The talent show had performances from each grade level. Students sang, danced, and entertained the crowd with a range of talents - including miming, performing a magic trick, and solving two Rubik's Cubes - before all of the talent show students were applauded for their efforts.

On Friday, February 3, the Yale Spizzwinks sang for the final day of Catholic Schools Week.

"We've come to the end of what has been a really spectacular week," said Sr Colleen, before the underclassman a cappella group performed songs and shared stories with the students. Songs performed included "Chicken Fried" and "Shenandoah."
