Occupation: I am a singer/songwriter — and I’m the “go to” house for my children and friends.

Family: I have two children. Zach is a freshman at Penn State. He played hockey for NHS. Zoe is in seventh grade at Newtown Middle School, and she’s a cheerleader.

Pets: I have seven animals. Our three dogs are Chief, a flat-coat retriever; Cody, a field golden retriever, and Chloe, who is the smartest of them all. She’s an Australian cattle dog. Chief and Chloe are rescues. Our four cats are Belle, a calico, Puma, a tabby and then we have two siblings, who are our oldest cats. Rocket and Foo are 8 years old. They are all great and they all have a purpose, from cuddling to announcing visitors.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve lived here for 16 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of time writing and learning music. I’m in a band, Off the Grid, with Joe Proc of Off the Hook, and James Moss. We have our first gig as a trio coming up at Proud Mary’s, on Valentine’s night. Joe is on guitar, James is on bongos, and I’m the vocalist. I also play guitar and piano, and I hike every day with my dogs. I help animals find homes. I have a lot of local connections and seem to be able to match people up with pets. I do some reading, and I’m a big swimmer in the summer. I have an exercise studio in my barn loft used for Pilates and barre classes several times a week. But my favorite thing to do is be a mom to my kids and their friends.

What book are you currently reading? The Dog Who Couldn’t Stop Loving, a true story about a comfort dog.

What kind of music do you listen to? I listen to Lucinda Williams, Janis Joplin, Pink, Alanis Morisette. Basically, I listen to funk, soul, R&B, and rock.

What was your favorite toy as a kid? Silly Putty! I’m very textural. And Lite Brite. It was great company. I felt like it was enchanted.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Turks and Caicos, and Tuscany, Italy are my top two. Edinburgh, Scotland, Killerney, Ireland, and Santorini, Greece are my other favorites. But I have to say, I love my own backyard!

What is the best thing about Newtown? Newtown has a high concentration of kind, caring, talented, creative, and wonderful people. I love nature, and Holcombe Hill is one of my favorite places. The fact that there is a nonprofit like the Newtown Forest Association — how great is that? And where else can you go into a place like Queen Street Gifts & Treats and get a hug and a piece of chocolate? Patrick [Queen Street Gifts owner] is a gift to the town.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Both of my parents. My father gave me a love of music, horses, and swimming, and the ability to not take myself to seriously. My mother, for her gentleness and kindness, her capacity for compassion, and ability to give of herself to others.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Pedicures and manicures — because I’m worth it!
