Struck Embankment, Then Rolled Over

Newtown Police report that Cassandra Pierre, 25, of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., operating a 2017 Jeep Patriot, was traveling eastbound on Botsford Hill Road and negotiating a left curve at 12:27 am February 1. Pierre’s vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, struck an embankment and rolled over onto its roof.

Pierre was checked by Newtown Ambulance for possible injury. Her vehicle was also towed.

Pierre was issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.

Lost Keys

Newtown Police are seeking the owner of keys that were found on the State of CT Horse Guard property located at 4 Wildlife Drive at 8:13 am February 4.

The key is for a Hyundai and there is a Subaru key ring attached to it.

Rear-Ended Slowing For Bus

Newtown Police report that Jessica Ribeiro De Amorim, 23, of Bethel, operating a 2007 Honda CR-V, was traveling north on Berkshire Road behind Joanna Montague Sherriff, 47, of Ridgefield, operating a 2022 Audi A3, at 3:18 pm February 5. Sherriff slowed for a northbound school bus ahead that was stopping. While Sherriff’s vehicle was slowing, Ribeiro De Amorim’s vehicle made contact with the rear bumper of Sherriff’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Ribeiro De Amorim’s vehicle was towed.

An infraction was given to Ribeiro De Amorim for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Struck An Unoccupied Vehicle

Newtown Police report that an unoccupied vehicle, a 2023 Volkswagen Atlas, owned by Daniel Deblasio, of Southbury, was parked next to a fuel pump in the parking lot of #67 Church Hill Road at 3:39 pm February 5. Brett Andrew Horcher, 41, of Collegeville, Pa., operating a 2018 Freightliner M2 106, was traveling northbound on the left side of the unoccupied vehicle. When Horcher turned left to exit the parking lot, the right rear corner of his vehicle collided with the left front corner of Deblasio’s vehicle. This caused minor damage to Deblasio’s vehicle and no visible damage to Horcher’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported on-scene. No vehicles were towed.

As this was a private property accident, no enforcement was authorized.

Possession Charges

Newtown Police report that they were called to an address on Edmond Road by EMS due to an individual who appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance and was walking on Edmond Road towards Church Hill Road at 12:20 pm February 6. Police located the individual and identified him as Michael Montgomery, 51, of Waterbury. A records check showed that Montgomery had an arrest warrant for failure to appear at court. The bond was set at $25,000.

Police took Montgomery into custody, where they also charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. An additional bond was set at $1,000. Montgomery was unable to post the bonds, and was held in police custody until February 7, at which time he was transported to Danbury Superior Court.

Rear-Ended At Intersection

Newtown Police report that Cawanda Council, 49, of Bristol, operating a 2022 Chevrolet Express, was traveling eastbound on Wasserman Way in the right turn only lane at the intersection of Berkshire Road behind Gregory Buzi, 44, of Monroe, operating a 2014 Nissan Frontier, at 9:46 am February 9. Council’s vehicle accelerated before Buzi’s vehicle did, and the front end of Council’s vehicle made contact with the rear end of Buzi’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. No vehicles were towed.

Council was issued a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Rear-Ended Around Start Of Road

Newtown Police report that Jacob Cribbs, 21, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2004 Ford F-350 Super Duty, was stopped northbound around 1 Toddy Hill Road behind Justyna Poserina, 44, of Monroe, operating a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 at 5:16 pm February 9.

Cribbs’ vehicle proceeded forward before Poserina’s vehicle began to move, and the front of Cribbs’ vehicle made contact with the rear end of Poserina’s vehicle. This caused damage to both vehicles.

No injuries were reported. No vehicles were towed.

Cribbs was issued an infraction ticket for following too close and causing a motor vehicle accident.

Hit Stop Sign

Newtown Police report that Andrew Kieras, 83, of Newtown, operating a 2013 GMC Terrain SLT, was traveling southbound on Hattertown Road in the area of Abbotts Hill Road when it left the roadway and collided with a stop sign at 4:53 pm February 12.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.

Kieras was issued an infraction for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
