Newtown Rotary Provides Dictionaries To Students

The Newtown Rotary Club recently presented dictionaries to every fourth grade student in Newtown.

A total of 513 Student Dictionaries were presented to the fourth graders at Sandy Hook School, Hawley School, Middle Gate School, Head O’ Meadow School, St Rose School, Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, and Fraser-Woods School.

This is the fourth successive year that the Rotary Club has undertaken this project under the leadership of Rotary Club members Brian Amey and Tony Salvatore. The members of the Reed School Interact Club also gave support in preparing the books for distribution.

“Encouraging Newtown’ students to excel has been an ongoing focus of the Rotary Club,” stated Rotary Club President Alan Clavette. He added, “We not only want to recognize the students for their achievements with the Student of the Month program, but to also give them tools, such as these dictionaries, to help them maximize their achievements.”

The Rotary Club of Newtown meets every Monday evening at 6 pm at The Inn at Newtown. Anyone interested in learning more about the club should contact Mr Clavette at 426-2080 or visit the club’s website at www.newtownctrotary.org.
