Black History Celebration Planned

WATERBURY — On Saturday, February 25, from 10 am until 4 pm, The Palace Theater will offer a day-long showcase and celebration of  Black History during Black History Month.

The event will feature performances in dance, theater and music celebrating the African American experience throughout history. Another highlight of the day will be the Costen Cultural exhibit on display throughout the theater featuring outstanding contributions made by African Americans in many fields.

Performers will include the Hartford Children’s Theatre, Stamford Zig Zag Ballet with Campagnie Ta from Burkina, Saso; Terri Small, The Unity Community Youth Choir, Life Dance Company/A Vision Reborn, Soul Lifters, New Bethel Church (Combined) Praise, New Marvaneers of Waterbury, Zaire Hunter, Unity Dance Ensemble, Spiritual Souls of Waterbury, I Have a Dream Production, Anthony Casper with Half & ½, and The Waterbury Community Choir.

Visual art will also be on display including Waterbury student art and essay contest compositions. Also on view will be The Costen Cultural Exhibit, featuring contributions by African Americans in many fields.

The event is free and open to the public.
