The Town of Newtown offered residents an updated list this afternoon of roads that remain closed or significantly impacted by downed trees and/or wires following last night's rain, thunder and wind storms.

"Some progress is being made on power restoration," the notice, issued shortly after 2 pm, stated. "But a new concern with brushfires is resulting in power having to be 'cut' in some areas until crews can do a more thorough clean-up.

"Please continue to be very careful as you move around town. Thank you, everyone, for remaining patient with the restoration process."

Eversource has not provided the town with "concrete data," the statement added, concerning when residents can expect a full return to service. As of 4 pm Thursday, however, the utility had improved its numbers somewhat. A total of 613 residents were still without power, down from the 915 Eversource customers in Newtown who were without power Thursday morning.

Statewide, the utility provider had a better average, with just 2% of its customer base -or 30,737 customers - still without power. Around 9 am Thursday those numbers were 6% and nearly 73,000, respectively.

Following is the list of roads still closed or partially closed, as provided by the town:
