Cadet Andrew Michael Narcum, son of John and Donna Narcum, was named to the Deanâs List at the US Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Cadet Narcum, a 2002 Newtown High School graduate, is concentrating his studies in systems engineering and will graduate in 2006. He will then be commissioned a second lieutenant in the US Army.
Monica Arienzo and Jennifer Francesca Ratzing received academic honors from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Penn.
Timothy John Cardoso of Sandy Hook received Deanâs List honors from the University of Maine at Farmington.
Rosemary Ziemann, Alexandra Gellert, and Christine Shannon received Deanâs List honors from Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.
Cadet Thomas J. Sharpe successfully completed six weeks of comprehensive new cadet training at Valley Forge Military Academy and College (VFMA & C). The new cadet is a member of A Company. At the time, school President RADM Peter A.C. Long, PhD, US Navy (retired) personally recognized Cadet Sharpe for his achievement.
Cadet Sharpe joined nearly 250 other new cadets who swore to uphold the Cadet Resolution during a Recognition Day ceremony held this past fall at the Wayne, Penn., campus. The day is one of the proudest moments for a young cadet, acknowledging that he has successfully learned to place the concept of duty above his own personal desires.
Victoria A. Filler, daughter of Michael and Joy Filler, is a recipient of the Deanâs Award for academic excellence at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., where she is a member of the class of 2008. To be eligible for the Deanâs Award, a Colgate student must achieve a minimum 3.30 grade point average while carrying a full load of at least four courses per semester.
A 2004 graduate of Newtown High School, Tori is a Class Council representative and involved in Best Buddies, a community program focused on working with mentally handicapped adults. She is planning to concentrate in psychology.
The following students have attained honor roll status for the second quarter at Laurelton Hall, a girlsâ Catholic college preparatory school in Milford: High Honors, Nicole Boggs, Ashley Braun, Rachel Rowan; Honors, Kathleen Murphy, Sharmila Corson, Jennifer Kalbacher, Ashley Calero, Allison Kirk, Elizabeth LaPerch, Patricia Culligan, Nicole Frey, Anne LoPiccolo, and Katelyn Power.
The following students have attained honor roll status for the second quarter at Wooster School in Danbury: Grade 12, Commended, Pamela Alte; Grade 11, Commended, Katherine Asselin, Honors, Marco Arienzo; Grade 10, Honors, Chelsea Gilchrist; Grade 9, Commended, Katherine Young, Honors, Jared Kloth, High Honors, Shelby Sisco; Grade 8, High Honors, Nicholas Allred; Grade 7, Honors, Brittany Hankins, High Honors, Joshua Muniz; Grade 6, Honors, Nadiya Hafizova, Amanda Kloth, and Hilly Oâ Hanlon. Students with a qualifying grade point average are recognized as follows: (on a scale of 1-6 where 6 is superior) Commendation for a GPA of 4.0 to 4.5, Honors for a GPA of 4.5 to 5.0, High Honors for a GPA of 5.0 to 6.0.
Erin Doyle received Deanâs List honors from Hofstra University. Erin is a senior majoring in Public Relations and Communications. She is a 2001 graduate of Newtown High School.
Leslie Greenfield received Deanâs List honors from Emerson College in Boston, Mass. Membership in the Deanâs List is earned in recognition of obtaining a grade point average of 3.45 or above for a given semester.
Melissa Hanna of Sandy Hook received Deanâs List honors from Regis College in Weston, Mass.
