Questioning Blumenthal’s and Murphy’s Sincerity

To the Editor:

I am in full agreement with Cathy Reiss’s letter last week in The Bee regarding Senator Blumenthal and Senator Murphy’s vote to kill the bill to protect the lives of babies who survive an abortion attempt. For those in favor of what these two senators and how others in Congress voted, think clearly and know that this is murder of a helpless human being.

Dr Kermit Gosnell is now in jail for murdering babies born during failed abortions by severing infants’ spinal cords. What is the difference here? What evil road are the politicians following just because they want the votes? If only Democrats and Republicans could be honest with themselves and vote on what is right, like Senator Joe Manchin does. I used to respect Blumenthal because I felt he wanted to do the right thing for the people of the US, but no more. He walks around every issue now like he is programmed and is not an advocate for American citizens. As far as Chris Murphy, I have written him on other matters of concern in the past, and the angry reply that I received back makes me question his sincerity. I also asked him about God and his beliefs. That question was not answered.

If you go to “Chris Murphy-Wikipedia,” you can read where he stands with his personal life. He was raised as a “Congregationalist, and identifies as a “Protestant/unaffiliated,” but “he is not a regular churchgoer these days in part because of the kids (two sons), in part because of a busy schedule.” I think this explains why he voted the way he did, because he has no time for God in his life. It makes a big difference, no matter what religion you are, to have faith and believe in our Creator.

So here are two more innocent children who will grow up without God in their lives like so many other children are doing. If the politicians thought about the end result of peoples’ lives and what is good and right and how one should strive to live, there would not be so much evil in this world. In addition, the people of the United States are witnessing the sad state of political discourse that is ever-so-present on a daily basis. Wake up, senators! In the end, you will have to pay for all your wrongdoings because in the final analysis, if you believe in God, you know that evil will not win.
