Easter is early this year, and so are Newtown's Easter egg hunts - on Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19. There is no fee for either event, both being organized by the Parks and Recreation Department. Register online at parks.newtown-ct.gov.

Parents and children ages 9 and older can join the 12th annual Flashlight Egg Hunt at Dickinson Park Friday night at 8, flashlights ready. Meet at the Dickinson Park pavilion. Rain date: March 19.

An egg hunt for children between ages 3 and 8 will also be at Dickinson Park on Saturday morning from 10 to 11:15. Expect a special appearance by the Spring Bunny. Children should bring bags to hold their eggs. The hunt will include prize eggs.

The activity is not appropriate for children under 3. Meet at the park's pavilion.
